Frequently asked questions
What are decimal hours?
Hours as a decimal number, e.g. 7 h 45 min = 7.75 h. Many payroll and invoicing systems need this format.
What break rules apply in Germany?
Under the Working Hours Act (ArbZG ยง4), employees who work more than 6 hours need at least 30 minutes of break, more than 9 hours at least 45 minutes. Breaks can be split into blocks of at least 15 minutes.
Does it work for night shifts?
Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start time, we assume the shift ends on the next day.
