Your entitlement
–

Statutory minimum: 24 working days on a 6-day week = 20 days on a 5-day week (§ 3 BUrlG). Pro-rata leave applies in particular if the 6-month waiting period is not fulfilled in that year or you leave in the first half of the year (§ 5 BUrlG); fractions of at least half a day are rounded up. If you leave in the second half after the waiting period, the full statutory minimum applies. Not legal advice.

Frequently asked questions

How is leave converted for part-time?

Leave days × your working days per week ÷ 5. Example: 30 days × 3 ÷ 5 = 18 days – you get the same number of weeks off as full-time colleagues.

What is the statutory minimum?

24 working days per year based on a 6-day week, which equals 20 days on a 5-day week (§ 3 BUrlG). Many contracts grant more.

What if I start in the middle of the year?

If you cannot complete the 6-month waiting period in that calendar year, you get 1/12 of the annual leave for each full month of employment (§ 5 BUrlG).
