Are my photos uploaded?
No. Images are decoded and re-encoded by your browser using the Canvas API. They never leave your device.
Which format should I choose?
WebP usually gives the smallest files and is supported by all modern browsers. JPEG is the safest choice for compatibility. PNG is lossless and best for graphics with few colours.
Is metadata removed?
Yes – re-encoding through the canvas drops EXIF metadata such as camera details and GPS location, which is good for privacy.
Why did a file get bigger?
Already well-compressed images can grow when re-encoded at high quality. In that case we keep the original size information so you can lower the quality or keep the original.
